6 Ways to Be a Better Project Manager

Karen Tate, author of The Essentials, made a crucial point about project management when she said “Trying to manage a project without project management is like trying to play a football game without a game plan.”

Even the most casual of pick-up game players still tend to have some sort of an idea of what they’re doing going into a streetball competition.

Why don’t we apply the same principle to the way we manage and plan our lives?

All of us have projects.

Outside of work, we juggle many things:

  • The novel we’re writing
  • A home renovation
  • Saving a certain amount of money
  • Reading a certain number of books in a year

Across the board, we’re trying to accomplish things at home. However, we often fail to apply the same tried and true principles of project management to what we’re doing at home.

The question is, why don’t we try?
