4 Victim-Mentality Mindsets That Were Ruining My Life
And how I changed my autobiographical narrative to become a happier (and healthier) person
I just finished reading Dopamine Nation (would 1000% recommend it) and was fascinated by the way Dr. Anna Lembke pointed out how the victim mentality plays a big role in addiction — as well as maladaptive behaviors of all kinds.
I don’t know when I first learned to be a victim. But I know now that it’s never worked very well.

Maybe too many fairytales and Disney shows made me think that life was supposed to happen for and to me, not something I could live out intentionally and design for myself with careful effort.
This I know for certain:
I’ve never made it anywhere substantial not owning up to the process and taking responsibility for myself and my life.
One of the big facets of effective AA involvement is falling in line with their preaching which is explicitly anti-victim mindsets.
