I am an angry person. Imagine Anger, the red, fiery brick from Inside Out, and you’ve got a pretty good picture of me about half the time.

I don’t know if it’s the Enneagram 1 justice seeker and truth finder in me or if I’m genetically wired not to have a lot of patience — either way, I struggle.

More so than that, my anger has gotten me into a lot of trouble in my life.

“With bouts of rage, always remind yourself that losing your temper is no sign of manhood. On the contrary, there’s more strength, as well as more natural humanity, in someone capable of remaining calm and gentle”. — Marcus Aurelius

Far beyond internal conflict, I’ve been known to give ultimatums, lash out, criticize, and push people away out of frustration. I’ve also lost sleep, lost respect that I had to fight to earn back, and shown some ugly true colors occasionally.

What does stoicism have to do with this?
