4 Stoic Philosopher Quotes That Have Made Me A Wiser Person

How ancient knowledge influences my discernment in life today

“Wisdom is knowledge applied situationally” was how I described the term I’d grown up hearing to a group of teenage girls the other day. Wisdom is something I’ve been searching for for years.

Ever since my grandfather would talk about reading Proverbs of the Bible every morning, and I memorized the scripture Proverbs 16:16:

“How much better to get wisdom than gold! To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.”

Most recently, my fascination with the concept grew again when I was studying the levels of growth of an Enneagram 1 supplied by the Enneagram Institute’s website. They offer a description of the most healthy One in the personality system that says as follows:

“Become extraordinarily wise and discerning. By accepting what is, they become transcendentally realistic, knowing the best action to take in each moment. Humane, inspiring, and hopeful: the truth will be heard.”
