Parenting is no easy task.

There are many times when I pass a certain picture of a 20-something mother holding me on the back of a truck at a church trunk or treat party that I can’t help but pause and wonder:

How did she do it?

My mom, who had no experience, and no idea of what to do, raised me into who I am today.

While some experts of her day would advise her through books and word of mouth on what to do, there was nowhere near the amount of information available today regarding what you should and shouldn’t do with your child.

“The child supplies the power but the parents have to do the steering.” — Dr. Benjamin Spock

While that information today can be a blessing, it’s also a curse — because we have to decide for ourselves what’s real, what works, and what is a horrible idea overall.

One of the experts who’s emerged recently is Dr. Becky Kennedy
